Day 1 |
Campers will ride on the wagon for an educational tour of the farm with Farmer Jonah, get to know each other and the life of the farm through games and a scavenger hunt. They will begin our camp video log, make preparations for our week’s guests, and create a special journal to use all week.
|
Day 2 |
Campers will explore the science of soil, compost and water. We will also learn how chickens and worms help out on the farm, as well as do some farm chores. Have you ever seen a chicken hypnotized?
|
Day 3 |
Campers will learn about the diversity of life that makes growing food possible. We will plant a habitat to attract pollinators and beneficial insects, interview a real beekeeper, and conduct a mini Bio-Blitz to document all of the living things on the premises.
|
Day 4 |
Campers will harvest vegetables and bring them in from the field. Our special guest will help us explore sharing the bounty with those in need in our community. And finally, campers will help Farmer Jonah prepare for that day's farm stand pick-up.
|
Day 5 |
On this final day, campers will interview another farmer and make final preparations for our mini farm-to-table dinner. We will also plant seeds to take and grow at home. We will share a celebration meal with families, and present the week’s video logs and skits.
